Individualism

As mentioned under the “love” page, the account of Adam and Eve in the garden is the genesis of an individualistic streak in us all, which leads to alienation, wickedness and death.  Jesus taught that “the one who seeks his (own) life/advantage will lose it, but the one who loses his (own, individual) life/advantage for My sake and the Gospel, s/he will gain it.”  But to “fall into the ground like a grain of wheat and die” requires faith in the good God who resurrects.  With such faith, we feel “the power of an indestructible life.”   Thus the Gospel – the good news about the God who is good beyond our wildest expectations or imaginings – needs to be spread, so that people will be set free from preoccupation with individualism to enter into communal life in all it’s fullness.
